A Guide to Effective Shadowing- September 20, 2010 6:30-8:30pm, Gustav Martin Rm 6, presented by Cherie Freeman & Kim Fulmer
This workshop is essential for one-to-one support staff (PCA's, TSS's, Instructional Aides, Mobile Therapists, ABA Therapists) working with children with autism. This workshop will provide guidelines on effective shadowing in the school environment. Shaping appropriate independent and peer play skills will also be discussed. Registration fees: $35 general registration $25 students and parents children with autism
Establishing Rapport- October 20, 2010 6:30-8:30pm, Gustav Martin Rm 6, presented by Cherie Freeman & Kim Fulmer
This workshop will provide an introduction to effective methods that can be used to establish a rapport with individuals with autism. Methods include pairing with reinforcement, understanding motivating operations and teaching mands. Establishing rapport leads to a fun learning environment for learners and teachers, and leads to a better quality of life for children and parents.

The ABC's of Eliminating Challenging Behavior- November 20, 2010 9am-4pm, Gustav Martin Rm 6, presented by Mary Lewis
This workshop will provide an overview of how challenging behavior is maintained in children with autism and how to eliminate it. Topics include examining the functions of behavior, functional behavior assessment and analysis, procedures to decrease challenging behavior, and procedures for shaping appropriate replacement behaviors.

Current Topics in Applied Behavior Analysis- December 8, 2010 6:30-8:30pm, Gustav Martin Rm 6, presented by Mary Lewis
This workshop will review current research in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis as well as current events relevant to autism.

Developing the Mand Repertoire- January 22, 2011 9am-12pm, Gustav Martin Rm 6, presenter TBA
Children with autism are often unable to communicate their wants and needs. A mand is a request. When a learner is able to request they need and/or want they learn that language is valuable. This workshop will provide a guide to developing the mand repertoire in both vocal and non-vocal learners. Registration fees: $45 general registration $35 students and parents of children with autism
An Introduction to Intensive Trial Teaching- January 22, 2011 1-4pm, Gustav Martin Rm 6, presenter TBA
This workshop will provide a hands-on introduction to Intensive Trial Teaching (ITT). Topics include the verbal operants and teaching guidelines. Participants will be required to participate in role plays throughout the workshop and will be provided with feedback. Workshop size is limited, register early.
